Concept

The travel times are among the biggest changes in this new version of Darkgalaxy.
To understand it, please forget anything you already know about travelling, and read this.


Any fleet can move anywhere in the universe. There are no restrictions.
The only thing that you can influence by the fleet drive, is the travel time.
There are three factors that infulence your traveltime:
travel type, fleet drive , and Space warp buildings


A fleet will always use the best fleet drive available to move.
This means that a combined fleet of a Freighter (drive class 1) and a Trader (drive class 3) will use drive class 3.

Travel Types

System travel     : Travel inside one system
Galaxy travel     : Travel inside one galaxy, but to a different system.
Universe travel   : Travel to a planet in another galaxy.

Fleet Drives:

Fleet drive 1     : Fighter, Bomber, Outpost Ship, Invasion Ship, Freighter.
Fleet drive 2     : Frigate, Destroyer, Merchant.
Fleet drive 3     : Cruiser, Battleship, Trader, Hulk.

Space Warp Buildings:

Hyperspace Beacon : Gives 25% travel time reduction if the Destination is your own planet and has a HB.
Jump Gate         : Gives 25% travel time reduction if there are friendly (own or allied) Jumpgates at 
                    both the origin and the destination of your travel. 

Note: Traveltimes are always rounded down.
Note 2: The HB reduces travel time ONLY for the owner of the planet.
Note 3: The effect of the HB and the JG are cumulative, meaning they provide a maximum bonus of 50% together.

Lookup Table

Use this table to better understand the mechanism behind traveling and how to intercept incoming fleets.

With this reference, you can for example, predict how long it will take for a given fleet to arrive at destination or how much time you will have to depart a planet before a enemy fleet arrives.

Note:

All Travel Times are equal to the Communications Radar estimated time of arrival, plus one turn for when the fleet was issued the Move To order.
