Introduction

This is a place of war. A place of conquest. A place of honour. A place of broken alliances and terrible losses. This is where the titans clash. Are you strong enough to survive and write your name in the stars? Do you have what it takes to build up an empire and write a chapter in the legend of the Dark Galaxy?

What is DG?

DG is a Text-Based MMOSG (mass-multiplayer online strategy game). This means DG is a strategy game you play together with thousands of other players. No downloads or plugins are needed, any PC with an internet browser will do.

How do you win the game?

You can win the game in one of two ways, asset score, or combat score. To win either you will need to build up an empire, but with the asset score you may wish to avoid combat, whereas with the combat score you will need to construct war fleets and actively seek out combat. The two winners of the game will each receive a prize and their places in the Hall Of Fame. The top five of each will receive recognition and smaller prizes.

What is DG about?

Based loosely on a classic game called Ascendancy, Dark Galaxy throws players into a vast universe where they must settle and build up an empire of planets. You must choose which players you wish to ally with and which to declare war on. Construct vast fleets and invade distant planets to expand your empire.

In DG you take command of a small planet with an ambitious population. You command what your people should work on to develop your industries. After a while you will be ready to launch into outer space and colonise other planets, expanding your empire and might. Train your population to be your army and build massive warfleets to crush your enemies and aggressively take over their best colonies. Form alliances with your friends to attack and defend together. Fight epic wars against other alliances spanning several galaxies. But most of all: enjoy yourself!

How does DG work?

DG is turn-based. Meaning that every hour the universe progresses one turn. Turns happen exactly on the hour, so it doesn’t matter if you give a fleet the command to move at 14:05 or 14:55, the movement will be processed at 15:00 exactly. Most actions in DG take several turns. A small mine takes only 4 hours to build, but some of the more advanced military installations take up to 70 hours. You play by logging in a few times each day, issuing commands to planets and fleets. One game takes exactly 90 days. This is 2160 turns.
