Fleets
From DarkGalaxy
The Fleets tab directs you to the fleets section. This section displays the list of every fleet you own as well as some information about them, such as its current activity and cargo contents.
The Name column obviously displays the name of the fleet. The Activity column displays the actual movement of your fleet. If your fleet is grounded, it will be shown as “Waiting” with the planet number where it is. If your fleet is moving, it will be shown as “Moving” with the planet number where is started from, the planet number where it is heading and the number of turns left before it reaches its destination. The 5 other columns are used to display the cargo amount of each of these 5 kind of resources that your fleet is carrying.
If you click on the name of a fleet, you will be taken to a specific Fleet management page where you can modify the contents of your fleet as well as giving it specific orders.
This page is separated in two distinct sections: the left part concerns Queued instructions while the right one concerns Resources Transfer instructions. Queued instructions are orders you give your fleet and that are processed in the future, while Resources Transfer instructions are processed immediately.
Queued instructions
Queued instructions includes :
- Fleet movement
- Waiting Turns
- Loading/Unloading of resources
At the top of the Fleet Queue section, you can see your fleet’s current queue of order if any. If you have no queued instructions, this part will not be displayed. You can alter this queue in the same way you can alter building queues or research queues : you can reorder instructions by changing their order number in the list. Entering a value of 0 will remove the queued instruction. Now let’s see how to queue such instructions.
The page offers two ways of queuing a fleet movement. The droplist under the “Move to owned planet” text lists the planets you own. You can select the planet and click the Move button to order your fleet to move to the selected planet. This allows for faster fleet movement queuing to planets you own. If you want to move to another planet, simply enter the Planet ID in the text box below and press the Move button. In both cases, the movement will start at the end of the turn when the instruction is processed during the turn update.
Waiting turns are turns when you fleet idles over its current planet. You may want to have your fleet wait for a few turns to start a fleet movement later in the day, wait for more resources to load, complete some new ships, or any other reason you can find. You simply enter the number of turns you want your fleet to wait and press the Wait button. As any other instruction, the Wait turn instruction is processed at the end of the turn.
Loading/Unloading instructions allows you to queue instructions to transfer resources and ships from/to planets. You can load resources from a planet, transfer ships from its shipyard to your fleet, or just drop everything on the planet. If you want your fleet to load a specific amount of a specific resource or transfer some ships from the planet’s shipyard, simply enter the amount in the appropriate textbox and press the Load button at the bottom of the page. The appropriate instructions will be added to your queue. Unloading works the exact same way. Since you might often want to unload everything from your fleet onto a planet, you can also queue it into one single instruction. You can queue this instructions simply by pressing the Unload All button, under the “Wait Turns” button.
This covers the Fleets Queue section. Now let’s have a look at the Resources Transfer section.
Resource Transfer
Resources Transfer are orders that are processed instantly, as soon as you press the appropriate button.
Resources Transfer works between Planets and Fleets, but also from Fleet to Fleet.
To transfer resources to a fleet, just select the fleet you want to transfer the resources to, in the fleets section.
In the textfield on the top you can choose, if you want to transfer resources from a planet or a fleet (also orbiting the same planet) to the selected fleet. Just fill in the amount of resources you want to transfer and press the "Transfer from planet"-button on the bottom. (This button may change to "Transfer from fleet" if you decided to transfere resources between two fleets.)
Resource Transfer over Hostile planets
Over hostile planets the userinterface won't allow you to select a different fleet to transfer resources from. While unsuported by the interface, it can be done by typing in the right URL. This is how it's done :
http://pluto.darkgalaxy.com/fleets/view/FLEET-A/?transfer=FLEET-B
To do this easily : go to the fleet you want to tranfer with, add a forward slash ( / ) after the fleetname, and then type : ?tranfer= now type in the second fleetname. Now you will see the usual interface to transfer resources back and forth.
OR.. just follow the above link, after that you will get an error page, but don't worry, just change FLEET-A and B to the fleetnames you have. Then you will see the page as well.
